Introducing Me: Who am I anyway?

Hello Everyone!

My name is Martha and I’m a sixteen year old living in Northern Indiana. I’m a Roman Catholic, and my faith and relationship with God is the most important thing in my life. That’s not to say that I’m perfect, because I am most certainly not, and I want to be honest about my struggles and joys in my journey with Christ on this blog. I am also passionately pro-life, so you’ll see posts about that as well! My goal is to share Jesus’ heart through sharing my own, and I hope that every post here does that in some way.

I really find a lot of joy in language and words, so I love to read and write. My all time favorite books are Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, and Pride and Prejudice. I could talk about literature all day long, and I enjoy thinking up story ideas for future novels that I have not had the patience or discipline to actually write more than a chapter of. I also have a tendency to write in run-on sentences, so I use commas in practically every sentence that I write, which I really don’t mind, but my teachers in grade school definitely did! (See what I did there?) I also appreciate a good pun, and laugh at really silly “dad jokes”. It’s just my sense of humor.

I have a love of romantic things, but not in the lovey dovey or mushy way that you might think of. I’m using the word romantic to describe idelic and beautiful moments; things like waking up early to go read a book as the sun rises. (This just so happens to be one of my favorite things!)

I am a reluctant runner, (aka: I strongly dislike running but I do it to take care of my body and to build discipline.) so I’ve been trying to make a habit of going on mile runs every morning. I have a prayer list that I use to pick a person and then pray for them as I run, which helps me to feel like I’m doing it for a reason, not just putting myself through unnecessary annoyance. That being said, I’m currently putting off my run by writing my first blog post, so I can’t say that I’m doing a great job at being disciplined.

You may be wondering why this blog is called “Just Martha”. Maybe not. Here’s an explanation anyway! My first and middle name is Martha Ryan, and that’s what everybody called me until I was about five or six. I really like it, but let me tell you, it’s not easy to find it on a keychain, and it’s kind of long, which is why when I got to first grade, I figured that shortening it to Martha was easier to print on a worksheet. This was quite an adjustment for the people around me, who all knew me as Martha Ryan, and every time I was called “Martha Ryan”, I would quickly correct them. Now that I can write my name with much less effort, I might like to go by Martha Ryan again, but at this point, I think we’ll stick to “Just Martha”.

Thank you so much for being here. I’m praying for each and every one of you.

Me at the Great(est) Lake. (Lake Erie, for those of you who needed clarification.)
